On Sunday June 14 we have a New Moon at 24 degrees of Gemini. New Moons occur when the Sun and Moon are in the same sign and mark the start of the 28-day lunar cycle. This makes it a good time to set goals for the month as the conscious mind (the Sun) and the subconscious mind (the Moon) are working together. It is like we are planting a seed of intention at the start of the lunar cycle for it to grow as the Moon waxes in the sky. In the sign of Gemini, this can be a good time to set goals around communication, writing, learning or teaching, socializing and for short trips. Gemini is an air sign that loves to talk, make jokes and to socialize. It also encourages us to gather and share ideas. As this sign can be somewhat quick and changeable, it is a good idea to focus on short term goals, rather than lengthy ones.

This New Moon is unaspected, which gives it a lot of possibility and a sense of freedom. With no other planets putting stress on the lunation, it leaves us more freedom to act without restraints. There is a loose aspect with Saturn in Aries, which helps to give structure and a sense of realism to our goals. However, the aspect is quite wide and is supportive, rather than restrictive. This is also the first New Moon in Gemini since Uranus moved into the sign earlier this year. It is too far away to form a conjunction, but its co-presence in Gemini gives a sense of possibility and a desire to break out of routine and look for inspiration. This is a great New Moon to try something new or to make goals around shaking things up and doing things differently. There is a sense of innovation and experimentation now.
