New Moon in Gemini - New Possibilities

On Sunday June 14 we have a New Moon at 24 degrees of Gemini. New Moons occur when the Sun and Moon are in the same sign and mark the start of the 28-day lunar cycle. This makes it a good time to set goals for the month as the conscious mind (the Sun) and the subconscious mind (the Moon) are working together. It is like we are planting a seed of intention at the start of the lunar cycle for it to grow as the Moon waxes in the sky. In the sign of Gemini, this can be a good time to set goals around communication, writing, learning or teaching, socializing and for short trips. Gemini is an air sign that loves to talk, make jokes and to socialize. It also encourages us to gather and share ideas. As this sign can be somewhat quick and changeable, it is a good idea to focus on short term goals, rather than lengthy ones.

Moonology Oracle

This New Moon is unaspected, which gives it a lot of possibility and a sense of freedom. With no other planets putting stress on the lunation, it leaves us more freedom to act without restraints. There is a loose aspect with Saturn in Aries, which helps to give structure and a sense of realism to our goals. However, the aspect is quite wide and is supportive, rather than restrictive. This is also the first New Moon in Gemini since Uranus moved into the sign earlier this year. It is too far away to form a conjunction, but its co-presence in Gemini gives a sense of possibility and a desire to break out of routine and look for inspiration. This is a great New Moon to try something new or to make goals around shaking things up and doing things differently. There is a sense of innovation and experimentation now.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is "A Man Trimming Palms". This symbol is about the need to prune and constrain wildness at times if we want to grow a healthy garden. It is the same with the goals we plant now as we cannot do everything at once as we will scatter our energy. It is also important that we have some kind of structure or routine so that we don't get carried away with an idea without any action. Ideas without practical efforts come to nothing and remain fantasies. Its good to shake things up and try something new, but remember that we don't have to reinvent the wheel or do things alone. We learn from those who have gone before and get help from others if needed.

This is a great New Moon for setting goals around friendship, socializing, short trips and writing projects. It is a lighthearted New Moon and one that opens our minds to possibilities, and encourages us to have fun and try something new.

Top 5 Themes of Chiron in Taurus

On June 19 Chiron moves into Taurus after being in Aries since 2018. Chiron is a dwarf planet discovered in 1977, located between Saturn and Uranus. As such he is a bridge between the planets we can see with the naked eye, representing known boundaries, and the outer planets, which represent generational and cosmic influences. In mythology Chiron is an immortal centaur who is taught medicine and healing, and who helps many with his gifts.  However, he himself becomes wounded with a poison arrow. His suffering is so great he asks for death, and Jupiter grants him his wish but places the constellation Sagittarius in the sky in honour of him. Chiron's story shows that he represents our wounds, especially those we receive when we are young, but also our ability to heal them and in doing so to help others.

Astro Codes Oracle

Chiron's orbit is elliptical, so he spends more time in some signs than others. Chiron's orbit lasts about 51 years, so at this age we get our "Chiron return". This marks a time when we are asked to reflect on the past and heal any unresolved issues from when we were younger. For those born from 1976 - 1984 (give or take a few months due to retrogrades on the beginning and end of this period) this transit marks the start of your Chiron return. He will be in Taurus until 2034, except for when he retrogrades back into Aries from Sept 17, 2026 until he moves into Taurus for good on April 14, 2027. This summer we get a preview, a trailer if you will, of what the next 8 years of Chiron in Taurus will bring us. Here are some themes I expect to see.

  1. Financial Issues. While Chiron in Aries highlighted issues around identity and identity politics, the next few years will focus heavily on finances and the gap between the ultra-rich and everyone else. Class dynamics between the haves and the have-nots will become more prominent. The last two times Chiron was in Taurus was from 1926 - 1933 and 1976 -1984. The late twenties and early thirties saw the excess of the roaring twenties come crashing down and the beginning of the Great Depression. It also saw the rise of socialism and the New Deal. The late seventies and early eighties saw the oil crisis, and the rise of Reagan and Thatcher with its trickle down economics and union busting. I expect to see some of these themes to repeat again. How can we heal our economy so it serves everyone and not just those at the very top?

  2. Reassessment of Values. While the Chiron in Aries period was marked by identity politics and some over identifying with narrow categories, this era may see a focus on materialism, with some mistaking their worth for the number in their bank account. Chiron invites us to heal an old wound, but some will refuse the invitation and get caught up in defending it. There will be some who confuse material riches with inner wealth and end up wondering why they feel empty and alone. Think of the Great Gatsby from a previous Chiron in Taurus period. For those that meet the challenge, there will be a reassessment of where they spend their time, money and energy. Simplifying things and focusing on what is most important rather than on trying to keep up with the Jones' or the Kardashians will serve one better.

  3. Reallocation of Resources. Taurus rules the material realm including natural resources. Not only are we seeing a widening gap between the ultra-rich and everyone else when it comes to finances, we also see a grab for natural resources. Billionaires are trying to grab land, water and electricity to fund their mega data centers and we see communities fighting back. In the US protected areas are being sold for forestry and mining. There is a sense that natural resources which should be for everyone and managed well is becoming gobbled up to serve the few. One of the tasks of this time period is to fight for a more even distribution of wealth and natural resources so that we can all benefit for generations to come.

  4. The Material World vs the Digital. When Pluto moved into Aquarius in 2023 we saw the rise of AI and robotic and surveillance technology. This is the age of the tech oligarchs, but it is important to remember that Pluto in Aquarius also brings rebellion and revolution. The first few years of Chiron in Taurus will see Chiron making a square to Pluto, showing tensions between the material realm and the emerging digital technologies. Already we see communities fighting back against large data centers and their environmental and health impacts. We will also see a tension between those who value handmade goods and physical media, and those who embrace AI and want it to take over.

  5. A Focus on the Environment. Chiron in Taurus asks us to get back to nature and to find healing in the natural world. The last two Chiron in Taurus periods saw the creation of the National Park system in the 1920s and 30s, and a greater emerging environmental movement of the 1970s and 80s. I expect to see an increasing awareness of the environmental impact we are having on the earth and people wanting to foster a greater connection with the natural world around them.

The next few months will give us a preview of the themes of Chiron in Taurus. We will see how they play out and if some come into focus more than others. In our own lives we are asked to heal issues around scarcity, finances and any beliefs of lack or worthiness. This is a good time to take stock of our values and how we spend our time, money and energy. Do they match our values or do we need to realign? This is also a time to get in touch with nature, making things with our hands and enjoying the physical realm. This is also a time when we may be asked to become more involved with community issues around resources, the environment or social welfare.

Blue Moon in Sagittarius - A Golden Opportunity

On Sunday May 31 we have a rare Blue Moon in the sign of Sagittarius. A Blue Moon is the second full moon in a month, a once in every two- or three-year occurrence. Thus, the saying "once in a blue moon" to mean something that happens rarely. Blue Moons are considered to be extra powerful, due to their rareness. This one is at 9 degrees of Sagittarius, a sign that is about expansiveness, adventure and big ideas. Full Moons occur when the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs, and are a time of culmination, choices and heightened emotion. With the Sun in Gemini, we have been focused on socializing, sharing ideas, communication and small adventures. The Full Moon in Sag comes along to remind us to look at the big picture, to dream big and plan for bigger and bolder adventures. This is a time to have fun and expand our view of the world.

Moonology Oracle

This Full Moon is supported by a trine to Saturn in Aries and a sextile with Pluto in Aquarius. Saturn brings structure and material support to our big plans and goals. We are being asked to dream big, but not to leave it in the realm of fantasy. Saturn in Aries encourages us to take concrete action to make those big ideals real. What steps can we take today to bring them into our everyday reality. Pluto assists us through changes in the wider world, particularly through new technologies, and community support. We cannot go backwards to the way things used to be but rather must adapt to the world and the changes it presents to us.

The Nodes are squaring the Blue Moon in Virgo and Pisces. The Nodes have associations with fate and karma. Changes that we make now have a sense of destiny to them. You may feel both a push to make changes and move forward, but also a desire to resist and stay in our comfort zone. The North Node in Pisces pushes us to think spiritually and to imagine possibilities, while the South Node in Virgo fusses over the details and may hinder us by giving us excuses as to why the changes feel too big to make. It's important to remember that you have been through changes before and can handle it again. By giving your Virgo side a step-by-step list, this can help to alleviate any feelings of resistance or anxiety.

Also, on this day, Mercury in Gemini makes a sextile with Chiron in Aries. This aspect brings us important messages around healing old wounds, particularly around our sense of self and identity. We are given an opportunity to express ourselves authentically now. You may be the person who helps another, or you may receive a healing message yourself. Watch for what triggers you or what resonates on this day as the Universe is bringing important messages now to help you move forward.

The Sabian Symbol for this Blue Moon is "A Golden Goddess of Opportunity." This is a perfect symbol for our optimistic Sagittarius Blue Moon. Not only is it a powerful lunation, but it is a lucky one where fate is pushing us to grow, and we are being supported by the Universe in making bold changes. This symbol speaks to the power of following our own destiny and speaking our truth. We are being asked to listen to our hearts and dream big. To challenge ourselves to step out of routine and our comfort zone to answer our destiny.
