Top 5 tips for Mercury Retrograde in Pisces (Feb 25 - Mar 20, 2026)

Mercury retrograde is probably the best known and most infamous astrological transit known to the public. Ten years ago you would be hard pressed to find someone outside of astrologers who knew about it, but now even those with only a passing interest are aware of it. It's been blamed for causing accidents, misinformation and computer crashes. And while this is partially true, it is not the whole story. Mercury retrograde is nothing to fear, it's all about working with the energy rather than against it.

Mercury retrogrades happen three times a year and are usually in the same element. This year all three are in the water signs, with the one this month entirely in the sign of Pisces. The retrograde starts on Feb.25 at 28 degrees of Pisces and ends on Mar.20 at 8 degrees of Pisces. If you have Pisces placements in your chart between these degrees, you will be more impacted by this retrograde than others. Pisces is a sign that is sensitive, emotional, imaginative and spiritual, but can also be wishy-washy and escape into fantasy. Below are my top five pieces of advice for navigating the waters of this Pisces Mercury retrograde.

1. Expect Travel Delays. This is a pretty standard piece of advice for any Mercury retrograde. With this one occurring in the sign of Pisces, I am expecting it to affect ocean travel the most. There may be issues around cruises and travel disruptions for beach and tropical locations. There could also be an increase in storms causing travel disruptions. Shipping items overseas may experience delays and there may be an increase in nautical accidents or oil spills. As with any Mercury retrograde, build in extra time and be flexible in your schedule.
   
   
2. Watch Out For Vagueness. Communication breakdowns are common during a Mercury retrograde. In Pisces it is often due to a lack of clarity and details. We think we have explained our idea fully but we really haven't. Or someone assumes we've understood them when we only have a general notion of what they mean. Make sure you are asking clarifying questions and try to be as clear as you can yourself. Most of the time it is just a matter of a misunderstanding, however, watch out for those deliberately being vague. Some may try to lead others astray with misinformation or disinformation now.
   
   
3. Avoid Escaping into Fantasy or Nostalgia. A little fantasy and escape can be good for the soul. As can be a trip down memory lane. Mercury retrogrades can bring up issues from the past, and with Pisces bent toward fantasy, this can lead us to over romanticizing the past or living too much in our imagination. It's important that we learn the lessons from the past and not gloss things over, and to make sure we are living in the here and now. 
   
   
4. Review Old Spiritual and Creative Interests. Sometimes Mercury retrograde can help us pick up an old hobby or interest and revamp it or look at it in a new light. Pisces is associated with the spiritual and imaginative. This could be a good time to get back into meditating or to pick up the deck of tarot cards you meant to learn or to revisit a previous spiritual practice. Pisces also has associations with the arts like dance, music, poetry and photography, so it is also a good time to revisit any old interests in these areas.
   
   
5. Connect With Old Friends. Sometimes a Mercury retrograde can bring old friends back into our lives. Mercury is the messenger and in retrograde he sometimes brings old friends back to us or new information about them. This is also a time when secrets may get revealed, especially as the first half of Mercury retrograde is in eclipse season, a time when hidden information can come to light.
   
   

Mercury retrograde is nothing to fear. While the delays and miscommunications can be annoying, they can also be an opportunity to slow down and take another look at things. So go with the flow, take another look at old hobbies and connect with your spirituality and imagination. You never know, you might discover a renewed passion for an old interest or connect with someone you haven't seen in a long time.

Lunar Eclipse in Pisces - Good News Disguised as Bad News

 On Sunday September 07 we have a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 15 degrees of Pisces. Eclipses happen twice a year, about six months apart. The last pair of eclipses was in March earlier this year. Eclipses happen in pairs with a Lunar and Solar Eclipse occurring within two weeks of each other and are in opposite signs. This month we have a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces and a Solar Eclipse on September 21 in Virgo. The week before the first eclipse to the week after the last eclipse is sometimes referred to as "eclipse season" and is a time of change and disruption.

Lunar eclipses often bring to light things that are hidden like secrets and scandals. Anything that has been hidden from the light tends to get exposed under a lunar eclipse. This particular lunar eclipse is in Pisces, a sign that is about spirituality, dreams, the subconscious, creativity and the collective. Lunar eclipses in Pisces can reveal hidden mental or emotional health issues, reveal spiritual truths to us or make us more psychically aware. While these truths may initially be upsetting or disruptive, they are trying to help us to grow and heal. I often find that eclipses are trying to get us to course correct, so if we are off the path a little we receive a little nudge from the Universe. However if we have gotten way off course, then the message will be more dramatic.

This Lunar Eclipse is opposite Mercury in Virgo and trine Jupiter in Cancer. Oppositions often manifest as an event in the outside world, in this case a message, as indicated by Mercury who rules communication and travel. Virgo rules over routines, work, physical health and even pets. Expect to hear news in one of these areas that confronts your sense of spirituality, mental health or creativity. It could be that we may have to adjust our routine, make health adjustments, or there are changes at work that may affect our sense of well being and ask us to find a better balance. We are being helped by the trine of Jupiter in Cancer, as the planet of luck and expansion tells us that these changes are ultimately for the best. The changes we make will allow us to grow in the areas of home, family and creativity. 

The Sabian Symbol for this Lunar Eclipse is "The Flow of Inspiration". This symbol is connected to our spirit guides and angels and how the Universe is bringing us messages if only we would stop, slow down and listen. This Full Moon we are being asked to pay attention to the messages and follow the guidance we are given. While the information we receive may not be what we want to hear initially, it does turn out to be helpful in the long run. New Moon in Pisces - Rising Above the Clouds of Chaos

On Thursday February 27 we have a New Moon at 9 degrees of Pisces. New Moons are a time of new beginnings as we are at the start of a new lunar cycle. It is also a time when the Sun and Moon are in the same sign, symbolizing our conscious and rational side working together with our subconscious and emotional side. As such we can harness both energies to plant seeds for the coming lunar cycle to later grow and manifest. Pisces is the last sign in the wheel of the zodiac, a water sign that is mutable. Its energy is spiritual, mystical, creative and intuitive, but can also be about fantasy, addiction and escapism. The New Moon in Pisces can be a great time to set goals for any creative projects, especially musical ones. It is also a good time to set goals for anything spiritual or for intuitive development.

This New Moon is trine Mars in Cancer, who has spent the last three months in retrograde. He has slowed down and stopped, and will start moving forward again, or "direct" the following day, February 28th. This New Moon is an opportunity to reflect on the past three months and where we may have felt frustrated or unable to act.
