On September 17, 2024, we have a Lunar Eclipse at 25 degrees of Pisces. This is the first eclipse in Pisces, since February 2017, so for clues for what this upcoming eclipse may mean for you, look back at what was happening around this time. Eclipses happen in pairs roughly two weeks apart, both a lunar eclipse, and a solar eclipse, with the pairs of eclipses happening twice a year. The pairs of eclipses happen in opposite signs, with the axis changing every one and a half years. For example, since October of 2023 we have had the eclipses on the Aries/Libra axis, and now are slowly shifting to the Virgo/Pisces axis. The pair of eclipses this autumn will cross over the two with one eclipse in Pisces and the following one in Libra.
Moonology Oracle
Eclipses are a time of beginnings and endings.
They often act to put us back on track, so can be times of big changes or small
ones, depending on what area of your chart they are occurring in, and how much
you may be off or on your path. Lunar eclipses tend to be times when hidden
information is revealed and secrets come to light. Watch for revelations in the
Pisces house of your chart over the next couple of weeks. Pisces rules
spirituality, the subconscious, imagination, and the ocean, also drugs, alcohol
and pharmaceuticals. Watch for scandals to be revealed in these areas, or for
discoveries in these areas on a global scale. These topics may also be more
prominent in your own life, depending on how this particular eclipse interacts
with your birth chart.
This current eclipse is at 25 degrees, the Sabian symbol for which is “A New Moon that divides it’s influences.” This is about how there are times when each of us must go our own way, even if it is against the grain of what society wants or expects from us. Sometimes we have to change course or follow what is in our hearts. This can also go the other way, where we are trying to get others to conform to our ideas and rules. This is the time to let each person do their own thing without trying to coerce them. It also speaks to the current divide many perceive in our society, and asks us to adopt a live and let live attitude now.
The Lunar Eclipse is conjunct both Saturn and Neptune. Saturn lends a sense of seriousness and even melancholy to the eclipse. We may have some sobering realizations that cause us to change course in some area or make new decisions. We also may have to come to terms with the disillusionment of some cherished hope or dream. Neptune adds an element of the illusory to this eclipse, so what we hear or find out may not be the entire truth, or there may be an element of misinformation to it. There is a quality of smoke and mirrors that may be colouring things as more serious or depressing than they actually are. It is important to take a step back and let the dust settle over this eclipse season, before making any drastic decisions. Jupiter in Gemini is squaring the Moon now, asking us to not over extend ourselves or run away with things. Moderation and cautious optimism is what is needed now.
Also on the Lunar Eclipse we have Venus in Libra opposing Chiron in Aries. This reflects the Sabian symbol as we are challenged between finding harmony in relationships (Venus in Libra) and expressing our unique selves (Chiron in Aries). Will we give in for the sake of keeping the peace, or will we break free and risk rejection? Or can we find a way that balances either extreme?
We also have Mercury in Virgo opposing Saturn in Pisces on the following day. Mercury asks us to look at the details and find out the facts, before getting carried away by any bad news that Saturn and the Eclipse may bring us. Is it really as bad as it is being made out to be? Or are there crucial details that we may have overlooked? It is important to take a more realistic and unemotional point of view now.
