Profound Global Transformation - Pluto, Uranus and Neptune Changing signs

This year all three outer planets, Pluto, Neptune and Uranus change signs marking a profound change in the collective energy. Any one of these planets changing signs is a big change, however all three changing signs in the same year is unusual and shows that humanity is undergoing a profound transformation. While change can be daunting, it is helpful to know that these three planets will be forming harmonious aspects to each other from 2025 to 2028. They will be forming a minor trine, an aspect where two planets are trine (120 degrees) to each other and sextile (60 degrees) to the third one. This aspect shows that these three planets will be working together to create opportunities, growth and to help ease us through these rapidly changing times. Lets take a look at each of these planetary transits and the aspects they are making to each other for more insight.

Astro Code Oracle

Pluto in Aquarius - Pluto initially moved into Aquarius in 2023, but due to retrogrades back into Capricorn in 2023 and 2024, he did not fully go into Aquarius until January of this year. Pluto is about power, transformative change, endings, secrets and the underworld. In Aquarius he is about rebellion and revolution, the power of the people, and technology changing society. He also can be about how new technologies like the internet and AI can be abused by those in power.

Neptune in Aries - Neptune transited into Aries on March 30, and will briefly retrograde back to Pisces this fall, then return in January 2026 to Aries. Neptune is spirituality and the collective dream. It is what we idealize and fantasize about. It also has connections to the ocean, chemistry, the arts and drugs and alcohol. In Aries we tend to idealize the individual, archetypes like the pioneer, the cowboy and the warrior. There is increased focus on self-reliance but also dangers in idealizing war or self-sufficiency to our collective detriment. We could also see oceans warming or naval warfare. There is also opportunity for spiritual leaders to emerge now.

Uranus in Gemini - On July 7, 2025, Uranus the planet of technology, chaos and sudden change (as opposed to Pluto's slow-moving change) moves into the communicative sign of Gemini. Like the other three planets he will briefly retrograde back into Taurus late this year and then go back into Gemini for the next 8 years. Uranus in Gemini has historically coincided with the US being at war (Revolution, Civil War, WW2) and then reinventing itself, so we will see if this pattern continues. Uranus is about technology and in Gemini we see leaps forward in both communication and transportation. Think trains, the postal service, radar, television, the basis for wifi and computers etc. which were all invented or came into widespread use during previous Uranus in Gemini periods. This era may see similar leaps forward in communication and transportation technology.

Pluto in Aquarius trine Uranus in Gemini - Trines bring a sense of ease and expansion, and with both of these outer planets in air signs, new ideas and inspiration will flow freely. Pluto in Aquarius brings long term change in technology that will affect our society and the distribution of power. This will work well with the sudden leaps forward in new inventions that Uranus will bring. The next several years will mark profound changes to the way we communicate and travel. As these planets are in a trine, it shows that the changes will be relatively smooth and bring opportunities for many.

Pluto in Aquarius sextile Neptune in Aries. Pluto has been relatively sextile Neptune for a most of the 20th century. However, the next few years sees them very close in degree to each other. Pluto sextile Neptune has been associated with an increase in interest in the paranormal, psychic abilities and alternative spiritualities. I expect this to continue but with a different tone. We may see new forms of spirituality that incorporates new technology, either using it as part of their practice or even worshiping it. We may also see the rise of new religions or charismatic leaders, who use technology to spread their messages. I also expect to see themes of mediumship and UFOs becoming more prevalent.

Uranus in Gemini sextile Neptune in Aries. Uranus is all about the unusual, the revolutionary and the weird. In Gemini he brings unusual ideas and as he is working with Neptune in Aries, we may see more strange ideas and innovations to spirituality. Expect to also see more charismatic and interesting spiritual leaders, and encouragement of self-reliance and individualism. This can have both positive and negative implications as this can help people to be more disciplined and independent and these leaders can inspire. However, the downside is fragmentation of beliefs, lack of empathy for others and conspiracy theories and cult leaders. As this is a harmonious aspect, I think this will lean more towards the positive, but it is good to be aware of how this energy could become toxic.

This mystical minor trine will be in effect for several years, so these will be long term influences and not any single event. Please note that Neptune will retrograde back into Pisces and Uranus into Taurus later this year. This trine will still be in effect, although the tone may slightly change. Overall, this aspect with all three outer planets over the next several years is encouraging us to collectively transform our relationship to power (Pluto) and our individual spirituality (Neptune) while navigating fast paced technological change (Uranus). By the time we arrive at 2030 the world will be a different place, and the gods are trying to help us to navigate the changes and make a better world for ourselves and others.

Pluto in Capricorn - Tieing Up Loose Ends

On September 01, 2024, Pluto will dip back into the sign of Capricorn for one last time, before moving back into Aquarius on November 19, 2024. Pluto moves very slowly around the zodiac, taking 248 years to complete a cycle. As such, it only moves forward a couple of degrees a year, and spends about half of the year in retrograde. Since May of 2023, Pluto has been going back and forth between the last degrees of Capricorn and the first few degrees of Aquarius. Pluto entered Aquarius May – July of 2023 and gave us a sneak peek, a trailer if you will, of what is to come for the next twenty years of Pluto in Aquarius (2023 – 2044). Pluto then went back into Capricorn, and re-entered Aquarius in January of this year. This autumn he dips one last time back into Capricorn to clean things up and tie up any loose ends before moving out of the sign for another 248 years.

Astro Codes Oracle

Pluto is the planet that marks generations as he can spend anywhere from 12 to 20 years in a sign, due to his elliptical orbit. He represents the death of the old ways, the slow march of change over time. He clears out things that are decaying in order for new life and new ways to sprout. While Uranus represents sudden or shocking changes, Pluto is a slower transition, but one that has long lasting and profound impact. He is the lord of death and helps us to let go and grieve. With his last foray into Capricorn, it is like he has gone back briefly to clean things up in this area of our life. If you know your birth chart, look what area Capricorn rules to see where you may be saying goodbye to something or finishing things up. Particularly look to any projects or themes that started back in 2008, when he first entered this sign. Even if you don’t know your chart, Capricorn represents ambitions, career, and worldly success. It is also a sign that is focused on earthly accomplishments and authority. Look back over the last 16 years. Has your view of what counts as success changed? Is there something you started back then that you are ready to let go of? How have your ambitions changed?

Pluto also represents power. The sign Pluto is in tends to show where we invest in or express power in the world. Capricorn represents government, big corporations, institutions and traditional authority. Since 2008 we have seen corporations become bigger and have more influence over the world. We’ve also seen many of them merge and become virtual monopolies in some sectors, along with some owners becoming trillionaires. Power and wealth moved increasingly towards the minority at the top, while poverty increases and everyday necessities like housing become more and more out of reach for many. We also saw a rise of populist and fascist governments and politicians, who want to enforce their authority through repressive means. The last few months of Pluto in Capricorn may see a last gasp of those who want to maintain this old order. However, the Pluto in Aquarius era has already begun and will only continue to gain strength after this autumn. Aquarius is a sign that is about community, humanitarianism and revolution. The next 20 years will see power shift from those at the top towards communities and be more spread out rather than centralized.

Pluto also reveals where power has been abused and misused. He digs up what was secret and shows us the things those in power don’t want us to see. When Pluto was in Sagittarius (1995 – 2008), the abuses of the Church and those in religious authority came to light, as Sagittarius rules religion. The Pluto in Capricorn years started off with the banking and housing collapse in 2008. This showed us where those in financial authority had abused their power. This was also the start of protests on Wall Street and against the growing divide of rich and poor. These years also exposed government corruption and how those in authority have misused power, for example politicians flouting Covid lock down rules or trying to overturn the results of democratic elections. With Pluto’s last visit to Capricorn, we may see some new scandals in these areas emerge, or see some of these old issues get resolved now.

Overall this last dip into Capricorn is a chance for us to clean up any loose ends and to reflect on the changes we have gone through since 2008. On a world level I expect to see some issues around corruption find some resolution or more information come to light. I also expect those in traditional authority to make a last push for control. On a personal level, look to the Capricorn house to see where you need to resolve some lingering issues.

Pluto in Aquarius - A New Age of Revolution

This Saturday January 20th Pluto the planet of death, transformation and power moves from Capricorn, where he’s been since 2008, into the sign of Aquarius. Pluto moves very slowly around the zodiac, taking 248 to journey all the way around the Sun. Being such a slow moving planet, his movement into a new sign denotes a new era. Being a slow moving outer planet, Pluto only moves a couple of degrees a year, and spends almost half the year in retrograde, giving him a two steps forward, one step back progression. Because of this, there is often a little bit of back and forth between the old sign and the new one. Last year Pluto spent May and June in the sign of Aquarius before stepping back into Capricorn, giving us a sneak peak at some of the coming attractions. This year he will dip back into Capricorn to do a final clean up from September 1 – November 19, before moving finally into Aquarius until 2043.

Astro Codes Oracle

Last year I wrote about what themes I thought Pluto might be bringing us in the new Aquarius era, which you can read here. In this post I talk more about these themes now that we have had a bit of a preview last year of what is to come.  This ingress into Aquarius is one to take note of because it happens on the same day as the Sun moves into Aquarius too, making the two planets conjunct each other. Take note of what happens on this day in the world and in your life as they are denoting some of the changes and themes of this new era. Below are some of the themes I am expecting to see in the Pluto in Aquarius years. Keep in mind that Pluto will be in Aquarius from now (except for a brief dip back into Capricorn as noted above) until 2043, so these are not overnight changes, but themes that will play out over time.

Fear of Technology  – Last year Chat GPT was all the rage and everyone was talking about AI and its potential gifts and dangers. Then almost overnight, when Pluto went back into Capricorn, most people’s interest started to wain and Chat GPT usage dropped off. Now that Pluto is moving back into Aquarius, I expect the talk about AI, including the fears of where they may lead us, to pick up again. The sign Pluto is in shows us what we fear. When Pluto was in Leo (1938 – 1957) we feared nuclear destruction, in Scorpio (1984 – 1995) it was sex because of AIDS and we also had the Satanic Panic. In Capricorn (2008 – 2023) it was banks, governments and borders. Now in Aquarius we fear that it is technology itself that will turn on us and kill us. There is a recognition that much like the monster in Frankenstein, our creations can get out of control and do more harm than good.

Space and Air Travel – Aquarius is an air sign that is also associated with technology and outer space. Last year during Pluto’s brief sojourn into Aquarius, talk about UAPs (UFOs) was in the news. The US government held hearings into the phenomenon and a whistle blower came forward saying that different government agencies an military departments were hiding information. Whatever these things objects are and whether or not information is being hidden from us, talk about what is going on in the sky will increase. We also had stories about Chinese spy balloons, and multi billionaires launching rockets into space. The last Pluto in Aquarius era (1778 – 1798) saw the invention of the hot air balloon and the first balloon used in a battle for reconnaissance. I expect drones to become more of a common technology and improvements in space and even air travel over the next 20 years.

Scientific Discoveries and Inventions – Pluto and Aquarius eras tend to be times of breakthrough and discoveries and inventions with far reaching consequences. As already noted, AI is one such invention that may completely upend our lives and societies. And who knows what other developments the next couple of decades have in store for us. The last Pluto in Aquarius eras saw the invention of the steam engine, which led to the Industrial Revolution, which in turn had far reaching consequences across the globe. It changed how we work, how we organize time and even our social structure. Other inventions include the hot air balloon, vaccines, the cotton ginny, and in previous Pluto in Aquarius eras the printing press, gunpowder, and paper just to name a few. I expect whatever discoveries or inventions come out of this period will drastically alter the world as we know it.

The Powerful Fall – The previous Pluto in Aquarius eras saw the American, French and Haitian Revolutions. These were reactions by the populace against those who they felt had misused their power. In this case the monarchy and government. In a previous Pluto in Aquarius era to that one, we had the Protestant Reformation. This upended the Pope as the ultimate authority in Europe. Capricorn is about tradition, structures and authority, while Aquarius is rebellion, and humanity. There is already a growing distrust of traditional authority, it makes me wonder how the power dynamics will shift over the next 20 years. With the widening gap between rich and poor, will we see the fall of corporations and billionaires? It remains to be seen, but whatever happens, power will shift over the next two decades.

Shifts in Beliefs and Perspectives – Events during the last Pluto in Aquarius like the French and American Revolution radically altered the way we look at government and dispelled previous notions of authority that were taken for granted. This ear also saw the Industrial Revolution and the influence of scientific rational thinking came to dominate. During previous eras, the Protestant Revolution meant that spiritual authority was no longer seen as being in the Church, but rather between individuals and God. An even earlier Pluto in Aquarius era was during the reign of Constantine, who turned the Roman Empire from Pagan to Christian. During Pluto in Aquarius eras long held beliefs are challenged and we are asked to look at the world in new ways.

Being an outer planet, Pluto tends to influence things globally and politically more than personally. However, as we are all a part of society, we will each be affected by the changes this transit will bring over the next 20 years. A good way to use this energy in your own life is not to resist change, but rather to embrace it. What areas of your life do you want to revolutionize? What outdated beliefs and assumptions do you need to discard? Who have you given authority away to? These are all questions Pluto in Aquarius is asking of us now.

Top 5 Themes for Pluto in Aquarius

On March 23, 2023 Pluto will move into the sign of Aquarius, where he will be (with the exception of a brief retrograde visit back into Capricorn June 11 2023 - January 20 2024) for the next twenty years. Pluto, being on the outer limits of the solar system, has a very slow cycle. It takes him 248 years to go all the way around the zodiac. Due to his elliptical orbit, the time he spends in each sign may vary, but to put things in perspective, Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, and the last time he was in Aquarius was 1778 – 1798.

Pluto & Aquarius from the Astro Codes Oracle

Pluto sign changes tend to define the generation born within it. For example Pluto in Scorpio (1983 – 1995) is the Millennial generation, Pluto in Sagittarius (1996 – 2008) is Gen Z, and Pluto in Capricorn (2008 – 2023) the Alphas. His cycle is so slow moving he will appear in the same sign as those in your age group. However where he appears in your personal birth chart and the aspects he makes, will change how Pluto affects you personally.

Pluto is the planet that rules, power, death, transition and the hidden shadow. Pluto is change and endings over time. While Uranus marks sudden changes, Pluto’s changes are slow, but they are the kind there is no going back from. When Pluto changes something, it’s for good. When Pluto went into Capricorn in 2008, we saw the banking and housing crisis, the rise of more populist and fascist style leaderships, and literal and figurative wall building. This is because Capricorn rules boundaries, governments, and big business. The power of government and corporate interests was highlighted, as was the shadow of that power and the way it has been misused and abused. The Pluto in Capricorn years also saw more nationalist movements like Brexit and the MAGA campaign in the US, where governments sought to isolate themselves and consolidate power in the hands of a few. The Capricornian restrictions and boundaries were especially apparent during the pandemic, where we had to be physically separate from each other, lest Pluto (death) visit us.

Pluto now moves into a 20 year period where he will bring his transformative energies into the sign of Aquarius. Some clues as to the themes of the next 20 years lie in looking at the meaning of Aquarius, and to look at previous Pluto in Aquarius years. Aquarius is an air sign, ushering in an era of new ideas, technology and inspiration. It is also a sign of humanitarianism, community and friendship. On the more negative side it can be a sign of rebellion, revolution and one that throws out the old merely for the sake of it.

Here are my top 5 themes I am expecting to see for the Pluto in Aquarius years.

  1. Revolution  - The last Pluto in Aquarius years (1778 – 1798) saw the French Revolution, the Haitian Revolution and the aftermath of the American Revolution. While Capricorn is the era of the ruling class, Aquarius is about the people underneath them. The French Revolution saw a rejection of the upper class who were living in luxury while the majority of people were facing food shortages and poverty. The Haitian revolution was an uprising of enslaved people against those who exploited them. With the growing gap between the rich and poor during the Capricorn years, expect to see uprisings against authoritarian and exploitative powers. Aquarius after all is a sign of power in the hands of community. Whether these revolutions are as violent and disruptive as they have been in the past, or will be more of a slow cultural change over this 20 year span, remains to be seen.

  1. Rebellion – A revolution can quickly turn bad if it does not have a clear end goal or sense of moderation, as witnessed during the French Revolution. What started as a revolution to overthrow the French nobility, devolved into the Terror. Hundreds of French people lost their lives to the guillotine during the years of 1793 -94. Aquarius is a rebellious sign that likes to go its own way and can get carried away with an idea. After all it is a fixed sign, and once an idea takes hold, it becomes hard to let go of it, even when that idea tuns sour. Rebellion with a cause can move things forward, but rebellion just for the sake of it can have disastrous results. The years coming up may see more rebellion against old ways from those who are younger. Expect to see old ways and established norms turned upside down. However an interesting side result is that after overthrowing the old, the new group finds themselves to be the establishment and can face rebellion from those younger than them.

  1. Technology – While technology has always been a factor in change, expect to see the pace of technological change speed up even more over the next 20 years. The last period of Pluto in Aquarius, 1778 – 1798 saw the start of the Industrial Revolution, which had profound changes on society. The invention of the steam engine changed everything from being able to travel faster due to trains and steam boats, to being able to increase the production of goods through their use in factories. Because of this our relationship with work changed and we saw an increase in urbanization as people moved into cities to provide labour for the factories. With the advancement of AI technologies, bio integration and who knows what other new technology, our relationship with work and how we structure society may be irrevocably changed.

  1. Community – Aquarius is also the sign that rules communities, friendships and large groups of people. It is about the collective, all of us together, rather than as individuals. Perhaps another change we may see is an emphasis on community responsibility and collective welfare. Ideas like the 15 minute city, designed to make urban areas more livable and cut down on emissions, as well as minimum income, may become more popular in the coming years. One trend we are already seeing is the increase of friends buying homes together as home ownership gets more expensive in many areas. There may be a willingness to think differently about types of communal living arrangements.

  1. The Air – Aquarius is a fixed air sign, moving us away from the earthy energy of Capricorn. During the last Pluto in Aquarius years, hot air balloons were first used by Napoleon for reconnaissance during battle. It is possible that we may see advancements over the next twenty years in air travel, and in using aircraft and drones in battle. Drones may also become a technology used for delivery and other services. Another way I expect to see the theme of air is in a focus on air quality and reducing air pollution. As we find more sustainable environmental practices, I hope these years will help us to change our air quality for the better.

While some of these possible manifestations of Pluto in Aquarius may seem scary and dramatic, these are only possibilities. It is up to us collectively to decide how we want to use the energies in a positive way that improves things for everyone and the planet . It is also important to remember that while themes do repeat, they are not going to happen the same way they did in the past. They will take on their own flavour of the times we are currently living in. Pluto may rule death and the hidden darkness, but he also brings truth to light and helps us all to shed the things that are outworn and no longer useful.

On a more personal level it can be helpful to look at your birth chart to see what house or area of the chart Aquarius is to see where these changes may be playing out for you personally.
