Lunar Eclipse in Virgo - Truth and Chaos (Mar 03, 2026)

 On March 03 there will be a Lunar Eclipse at 12 degrees of Virgo. Eclipses occur in pairs twice a year, with each eclipse being two weeks apart of the other. For example, on February 17 we had a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius, and now we will have a Lunar Eclipse as part of that pair. The next pair of eclipses will be in August and September later this year. Lunar Eclipses occur when the shadow of the Earth falls over the Moon, giving it a red appearance, which is why it is sometimes also called a "blood moon". Although eclipses are only visible over certain places on Earth at any given time, the eclipse can still affects us, especially if it touches points in our birth chart.

Eclipses are times when shifts and changes happen, a time of big beginnings and endings. The changes don't always happen right on the date but can be within two weeks of either eclipse. Lunar eclipses tend to reveal hidden information. Secrets and things done in the shadows are now exposed. This particular Lunar Eclipse is in Virgo, a sign that has to do with health care, employment, food and young women. There could be scandals around health issues, working conditions or food production. We also may hear more information from the Epstein files or other similar abuses. We also just had a Mercury retrograde start in Virgo's opposite sign, Pisces. Mercury retrogrades can also bring secrets light which will add to this energy of exposing hidden matters.

This eclipse has some very helpful aspects as it is trine Uranus in Taurus and sextile Jupiter in Cancer. Jupiter is about expansion and luck and in Cancer it is about protecting and nurturing what is important to us. This shows that whatever information is being revealed will help us to expand protections for the vulnerable and for what we want to protect and nurture. Uranus is the planet of chaos and sudden change. The trine with the Lunar Eclipse points to there being shocking news or events that shake things up. However this will ultimately be helpful. It encourages us that whatever upsets and changes are going on now will lead to beneficial changes and that it is important that the truth comes out.

The Sabian Symbol for this Lunar Eclipse is "A Strong Hand Supplanting Political Hysteria". This shows that there may be chaos and confusion surrounding events during this eclipse. It is important that we keep a clear head and rise above fear and misinformation. This is a time when we must set the example and lead the way. It also says that there may be leaders with a vision who will emerge to help us. We must be careful and not fall for those who would look to seize power during a time of chaos for their own gain, but look to those with values and morals that are in the highest interest of all.

New Moon in Virgo - Time to Get Serious

 On Monday September 02 we have a New Moon at 11 degrees of Virgo. New Moons occur when the Sun and Moon are conjunct, or together in the sky, represent our masculine and feminine sides working together. Virgo is an earth sign ruled by the planet Mercury. It’s energy is analytical, practical, detailed oriented and focused on service. New Moons in Virgo are a good time to set goals that are practical and utilitarian, or on projects that require detailed focus or methodical methods. It’s perfect for that back to school time of year and getting into your autumn routine after summer holidays. Virgo also is about health and our day to day routines. You can use the New Moon to jump start new healthy habits and to revamp your morning or evening rituals.

This New Moon has a serious and somber tone to it as it is opposite Saturn in Pisces. Saturn is about rules, restrictions and responsibilities. In Pisces, he feels pessimistic and introverted. I think of this as sad poet, grunge, woe is me type energy. This can lead us to feel depressed or melancholic, but it can also lead to making profound and touching artwork. With the Sun and Moon both opposite Saturn here, we are asked to come down to earth and back to the daily grind. While it may be deflating at first, if faced head on, we might be able to use the energy in a practical and productive way. This is further emphasized as the New Moon is conjunct the fixed star Zosma. The star has an energy that is intellectual and prophetic, but also fearful, unhappy and disappointed. This New Moon brings a real sense of having to face reality and of disillusionment.

 

On this day Mercury in Leo forms a trine with Chiron in Aries. Mercury is about communication and in Leo he can be expressive and dramatic. He asks us to express ourselves authentically and fully, and to be creative. He forms a harmonious trine with Chiron in Aries, which is all about healing wounds to our identity. It is only by risking honesty and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and open that we can gain healing from the past and gain a sense of wholeness and self-acceptance. Giving voice to our pain or sense of loss through the creative arts can truly help heal ourselves and others.

 

Also on this day Mars in Gemini forms a square with Neptune in Pisces. Mars in Gemini gives us energy to communicate and a desire to learn and collect information, but it can also be expressed as hurtful words and arguments. The square with Neptune in Pisces can signal misunderstandings that lead to disagreements or to confusion and misunderstandings. Neptune in Pisces can represent a feeling of spiritual oneness and connection, but also delusion and misinformation. There is a lack of clarity, so avoid acting on what you hear now, especially if it arouses anger. You don’t have all the facts yet, so avoid hasty actions or hurtful words. 

 

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “A bride with her veil snatched away.” I think this is an apt symbol as we are asked look deeper at things, beyond the surface level. This can be jarring at first, whether we are the ones lifting the veil or having the veil revealed on ourselves. We are forced to see things as they really are, and to risk having ourselves be seen with all our flaws and failings. However it is only by doing so that true intimacy and connection can be achieved. 

 

Overall this New Moon is one where we are asked to come down to earth and face reality, and to get back into the practical mundane world which can be deflating. We also may be faced with a harsh truth about ourselves or others around us. We are asked not to get discouraged or angry when this happens, but to find ways to communicate openly and honestly. It is the only way to heal and move forward now.

Full Moon in Virgo - Spiritual and Practical Balance

On Saturday February 24 we have a Full Moon at 5 degrees of Virgo. Full Moons are a time of culmination as the Moon reaches the peak in her 28 day cycle. As the Moon rules the subconscious and emotions, this is why we often feel more emotional and people are more likely to act out from their subconscious programming at this time. Full Moon also occur when the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs. While the Sun has us focusing on a particular area and way of being, the Moon comes along and reminds us that we need to balance things out. This Full Moon the Moon is in practical, analytical and healing Virgo, while the Sun is in dreamy, romantic and spiritual Pisces. During Pisces season we are asked to focus on our dreams and the spiritual side of life. Pisces is about oneness and how we are all connected. It’s also about fantasy and imagination, so it can be easy to lose sight of the practical and the specific. The Moon in Virgo reminds us that without practical steps and grounded detailed plans, our dreams will remain vague and unrealized. As Virgo is also a healing sign, this Full Moon challenges us to find ways to incorporate the spiritual into our everyday routine.

The Moon in Virgo is not only opposite the Sun in Pisces, but is also opposite Mercury and Neptune. Mercury in Pisces encourages us to communicate with creativity, through methods like song, poetry and art. However Mercury in Pisces it is not great for details and clarity, yet the Moon in Virgo is longing for this. We are challenged to communicated with specificity now.  With the Moon in Virgo it can be a good time for creative writing and getting clear on our creative or spiritual goals. 

 

This Full Moon has helpful aspects in that it is trine Uranus and Jupiter in Taurus, another earth sign. Jupiter in Taurus sends us good fortune in the realms of food, money, nature and earthly goods. We may have opportunities of practical help or gifts in order to achieve our goals. The trine to Uranus also sends us opportunities to act in new ways and sends us inspiration. If we are willing to go with the flow and be open to new possibilities, we can make good progress. 

 

The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is “A Merry Go Round”. This symbol speaks to the cyclical nature of life and how there will always be ups and downs, but if we can stay centered and go with the flow, we may even enjoy ourselves. We are asked to not take things so seriously, but to find ways to relax and even amuse ourselves. Virgo Moon might want us to be practical, but its also okay to find time for the fantasy and amusement of Pisces energy. The key is in finding the balance between the two.
