We have a Full Moon on Friday June 21, the day after the Summer Solstice. Full Moons occur when the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs, and with the Sun just moving into Cancer the day before, the Moon will be at 1 degree of Capricorn now. Full Moons are a time of heightened emotions as the Moon, which represents emotions and the subconscious, is at her height. The Sun is now in watery and emotional Cancer, turning our focus to the home, family, memory, and the imagination for the next four weeks. While the Moon in Capricorn wants us to be ambitious and to not forget that we have work to accomplish in the world. Capricorn Full Moons are a time when we are asked to look at our career goals and see if they feed our heart. How can we find a good balance between work and home, between our emotional self-care and the need for outer accomplishment?
This Full Moon is squaring Neptune in late Pisces. Neptune is a planet that signifies spirituality and a sense of oneness, but can also represent fantasy and delusion. Squares are a stressful aspect, so Neptune leans towards the delusional and even deceptive now. There is something about our desires that is fanciful and not grounded in reality, or we may be basing our beliefs on a falsehood. Watch for misinformation and disinformation in the news, especially around issues of borders, homelands, ancestry and the past. If something seems to be outrageous, or angers you, remember that it may be a falsehood. Wait for the fog to clear and you will have a better view of how things really are. This is not a good time to make any hasty decisions.
Another aspect on this day is Mercury in Cancer sextile Mars in Taurus. Mercury is communication and travel and in the sign of Cancer he wants to talk about feelings and memories of the past. Mars is action, desire and aggression. In earthy Taurus he is all about slow and steady determination. This is a great time to think about long term goals and ambitions and to make plans that resonate with your heart. There is no need to rush with Mars in Taurus, and with the foggy aspect of Sun and Moon square Neptune, there is a lack of clarity. However, there is nothing wrong with dreaming and planning. Just remember that you may need to revise your plans with more practical details later.
The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is “A Chief Demands Recognition.” This symbol talks about how we sometimes need to stand up and be in our power. We need to communicate clearly our desires and not make ourselves small to please others. It also asks us to look at who we give power and authority to. In the world we may see new leaders emerge or upstarts try to overthrow things. It is a good time to examine power dynamics and ask who is a true leader and someone we can look up to and who is a blow hard just trying to bully and control things.
Overall this Full Moon asks us to look at ambition. Do our goals and desires satisfy our hearts? Do they support our inner world and our home life? Are they based on reality, or a fantasy? These are all things to consider this Capricorn Full Moon.
